Winter College, now in its 5th year as an online learning program, offers a week of virtual events featuring Miami University faculty, staff, and alumni. Each day includes a lunchtime presentation on a variety of engaging topics. The program also celebrates Miami University's Charter Day with highlights of its history and the Love & Honor Awards.

Join Dr. Steven Tuck of Miami's History Dept as he shares stories from the lives of those who survived the most famous volcanic eruption in history. We will trace survivors from the eruption of Vesuvius to their new communities, see how they carried on, built businesses and lives, and how government aided their relocation.

Steven L. Tuck is a Professor of History and Classics at Miami University. He teaches and researches ancient Greek and Roman archaeology and ancient history. His specialties include disasters in the ancient world and Roman spectacle entertainments. He has also created five courses for The Great Courses. Some of his findings are featured in an episode of the new PBS documentary "Pompeii: The New Dig" and in a recent episode of NPR's Radiolab.

This event is open to all and free to attend, but registration is required.  Questions?  Please reach out to J.J. Slager at slagerjj@miamioh.edu. Special thanks to our sponsor for Winter College:
